Purpose Built Council Chamber.
We partnered with South Ribble Borough Council to design, manufacture and install a completely new council chamber at the Civic Centre in Leyland. From first brief to final installation, our team worked closely with stakeholders to specify the right council chamber furniture.
From bespoke seating and benches to matching tables and lecterns. Ensuring balance of the borough’s heritage with the functional needs of a modern democratic space. The result is a purpose-built chamber that integrates civic character, durable materials and clean sightlines, with accessible layouts and AV-friendly details, all delivered as a turnkey A&L Furnishings solution.
A Few Words From South Ribble Council
“A&L were selected not only for the quality of their craftsmanship, but because they are a truly local company—employing local people, investing in local skills, and maintaining an impressive track record of supporting apprentices. The furniture in the chamber was manufactured locally, reinforcing our commitment to supporting South Ribble’s economy and social value and celebrating the talent within our own community.
One particularly meaningful touch was the creation of a ceremonial gavel for the Mayor, crafted from oak sourced from Worden Park. This gesture symbolises the deep connection between our civic spaces and the heritage of South Ribble. A&L presented this to the Mayor at the Opening ceremony for the space.
The result is more than a chamber; it is a lasting democratic space where key decisions will be made for generations to come. A&L Furnishings have helped us create a legacy—one that reflects our values, our community, and our future.”
